Music Monday: The greatest love of all

Loving ourself is one of our biggest issues and one song has taught me a lot about it even before I remembered I have been abused.

I am terribly sad that Whitney Houston had her own issues with self-love and chose to subdue things with drugs. May she rest in peace!

Jennifer Russel on “Forgiving”

Today’s contribution about “Forgiving” is from Jennifer Russel who wrote this:

Hi, All I could comment on forgiveness is how very difficult, almost impossible to do. Although we’re taught to do this, nobody tells us exactly how to attain it. I think I’ve done it & as soon as the bad memory comes to mind, the Unforgiveness comes flying back. So in the end I only think “Oh well” and try to stop thinking about the “incident” -go do a task, watch a little TV, anything to shove the memory back. Hope someday I discover how to truly forgive.

Thank you very much Jennifer for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.

Important message….

tending to my spirit has been and still is a great part of my recovery and sometimes I think it is the one that has helped the most. I come from a relatively open religious background but while I was young I found a home in a strongly conservative protestant background. I do not agree any more (or maybe never have) with their rules of life but I am fully aware that this kind of environment has helped me survive and most of all not end up in any kind of drug abuse surrounding. And I am very grateful for that!!!

I have not found spirit in the images of an almighty God but in many guides be it angels, animal spirits, gods and goddesses. For some that might seem to be heretic but I strongly believe that spirit is much too great to be imprisoned in only one image. I also believe that many who are the reason for religions to be were very tolerant and were aware that spirit has many faces and many forms. Even the Bible shows spirit in many images like the hen and a bear for example.

I found this video on http://www.youtube.com by  and I think it bears an important message:

Love yourself!

Last week I read somewhere that someone decided to be the loving parent to themselves that they never had. I liked that expression and the idea and I am thinking a lot about it.

It is such a major issue if you are a survivor as well as a thriver. But at one point you are ready and then wonderful things will happen :-) .

A warm welcome to….
